Drink this now.

I've said it once and I will say it again.  I freakin' love spring.  And summer.  And fall.  And, as it turns out, even winter.  Why, you ask?  Because with the change in seasons comes another opportunity to listen to myself.  I'm always amazed when I check in with my body and notice how her tastes change as the seasons do.  Right now I would so much rather have a juicy, sweet strawberry than a dense apple.  I'm craving water with lemon rather than my standard cinnamon-scented tea and if there was a contest between grilled chicken with olive tapenade and hearty beef stew, chicken would win hands down.  And NO, not because chicken is "healthier" but because it's energetically lighter which with Spring in full bloom, is exactly the sensation my body wants to feel.  (Come winter I'm going to eat that beef stew like nobody's business!) Often we get into these habits of purchasing and eating the same things over and over again without giving our bodies a chance to request something different.  Banana for breakfast, salad at lunch, nuts as a snack.  Standard.  Basic.  Mindless.  And though that routine is "easy", I can tell you, your body is creature who digs variety and wants MORE.  

So in the next few weeks as the weather continues to warm, I want to you to notice how your body feels.  

What is she asking for?  

What would taste ah-mazing to you that is NOT in your normal eating routine?  

How can you feed her from fulling listening rather than from your food default?

To get the inspiration flowing I've got a tasty treat you need to drink ASAP.  Here are two of my Delicious Detoxers imbibing and loving it!

Green Machine Smoothie

Serves 1-2

Ingredients 2-3 leaves kale, washed 3⁄4-1 cup water 1⁄2 of a ripe avocado 1⁄2 of a mango, chopped Juice from half a lime 1 teaspoon grated ginger 1 teaspoon raw honey or 2 dates

Ice as desired

Other possible additions: coconut water, cucumber, apple, kiwi, leftover steamed broccoli, celery, & jicama

Directions Throw everything into your blender or VitaMix and blend until the dates and ice are completely smooth and the liquid is frothy. Pour and enjoy.
