What if journaling changed everything?

Before I dive into why journaling is a must for anyone looking to reconnect with themselves, let me be honest and say, during the 6 years of my married life I rarely journaled. Then, KABOOM, my marriage blew up and in the aftershocks of that earthquake I realized I had a lot of unacknowledged feelings that were now churning inside me and had to go somewhere...FAST.

And when you’re staring down the barrel of a transition, whether it’s a divorce, a career change, wanting a partner, moving, having a child or simply trying to find compassion and be kinder to yourself, it’s hard to know where to start.

Enter journaling.

For the first year of my separation my routine was to RPJ: Rise, Pee, Journal. (Though some mornings I just went straight to the pages).

Journaling became a way to name what I was feelings and give structure to what felt like a jumbled mess in my brain.

Now, years later, journaling has become a sweet refuge that inspires me to ponder, reflect and remember who I am.

And the thing about journaling is it doesn’t have to be an epic endeavor. Just 10 minutes a day is enough to let off some steam and find the clarity you need.
